Filings for the May Preferential Primary continue at the St. Francis County Clerk’s office and a race for the JP District 6 seat on the St. Francis County Quorum Court has developed.
T.J. McCrary of Colt has filed for the seat, which is currently held by Justin Marquis, also of Colt. Marquis filed for re-election on Tuesday.
The race between Marquis and McCrary is the second race to develop.
In Widener, a third candidate has entered the race for mayor with Freddie Douglas Ivy filing on Wednesday.
Incumbent mayor Arvin Billingsley and Benny Brewer are also seeking the seat. Widener city council positions can also be filed for in the independent filing period.
Other filings for the Quorum Court included incumbent Billy Gene Ray of Madison for JP District 3, James A. Brown of Forrest City for the JP District 4 seat and incumbent Earlene McKissick Smith of Forrest City for JP District 9.
Three more residents have also filed for seats on the Democratic Central Committee. Johnetta Crumbly of Widener, Thaddis Jackson of Heth and Della Newborn of Colt filed on Wednesday.
The filing period ends Monday, March 3, at 12 p.m.
