The Forrest City Mustangs opened the 2017 prep track season Thursday with a solid performance at the Heber Springs Relays.
Led by a first-place finish from Kendriel Johnson in the long jump and a first place finish in the mile relay, the Mustangs finished second overall with 67 points.
Heber won the boys side of the meet with 105 points.
Johnson ran second in the 100-meter dash while Dontaye Summers ran second in the 400-meter sprint.
Johnson, Summers, Derrick Parker and Stephen Lane teamed up to run the mile relay.
In the girls side of the meet, the Forrest City Lady Mustangs finished third over all behind Lonoke and Heber Springs. Wynne ran sixth at the meet.
Destiney Summers led the Lady Mustangs by winning the 100 and 300-meter hurdles and Mercedes Penn ran second in the 100-meter dash.

The Palestine-Wheatley track teams, originally scheduled to run at Heber Springs, opted not to compete.
