Traffic headache

Traffic headache

A lost truck driver trying to find his way back to South Washington Street caused a traffic headache at the intersection of South Izard and Cross streets about noon on Tuesday. According to officials at the scene, a driver with Capital Structures of Fort Smith drove past the St. Francis County Courthouse looking for a way back onto Washington. The truck was hauling pre-made roofing joists. As the trucker attempted to turn right onto Cross Street, some of the load struck a utility pole at the corner, forcing a large number of joists into the roadway. Forrest City Police Department officers had to direct traffic around the mess while it was cleaned up. Photo by Alan Smith.
