T.J. Fetzer
Mr. T.J. Fetzer, age 93, of Forrest City, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Forrest City Medical Center in Forrest City.
Mr. Fetzer was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Newark, the son of Frank Fetzer and Ida Welborn Fetzer. He lived in Forrest City for most of his life, was a retired from the Soil Conservation Service and from farming. Mr. Fetzer was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Madison United Methodist Church.
Mr. Fetzer married June Taylor in 1962, and she survives him along with many other relatives and friends. One sister, Allyce Fetzer, preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Fetzer were held today, Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forrest Park Cemetery.

Earnest Flint
Mr. Earnest Flint, age 58, of Forrest City, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008.
Mr. Flint was born in Forrest City and is survived by six sisters, Estella Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Annie McKnight of Tyler, Texas, Nannie Smith of Florida, Dr. Barbara Flint of Washington, D.C., Sorethia Flint of Pine Bluff and Donna Steward of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and two brothers, Anthony Flint of Little Rock and Harold Flint of Louisville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. James Henry; his mother, Ida Phillips Flint; two sisters, Edna Wallace and Oma Young and a brother, James Flint Jr.
A memorial service for Mr. Flint was held today, Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Salem M.B. Church. People’s Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

H.M. "Buddy" Jayroe
Mr. H.M. "Buddy" Jayroe, age 73, of Forrest City, Arkansas died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at his home.
Mr. Jayroe was born July 4, 1935 in Palestine. He was the son of Jerry Jayroe and Winnie Swenia Jayroe and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Palestine. Mr. Jayroe was the owner and general manager of the Quality Chemical Corporation from 1980 to 2000, he was with the St. Francis County Farmers Association from 1958 to 1979, serving 12 years as manager. Mr. Jayroe was a board member with Planters Bank and Trust Company from 1973 to 1980, Arkansas Plant Food Association from 1984 to 1987, Forrest Memorial Hospital from 1972 to 1976, Forrest City Chamber of Commerce from 1973 to 1976 and the Forrest City Wild Life Association from 1970 to 1974. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.
Mr. Jayroe married Mabel Free in 1957 and she survives him along with a daughter, Kathy Chism and husband, Pat of Indianola, Miss.; two sons, Larry Jayroe and wife, Sue and Gary Jayroe and wife, Robin both of Forrest City; four sisters, Margaret Singer of Oklahoma City, Louise Tracy of Forrest City, Betty Jo Dover of Palestine, Alice Adams of Forrest City and Jean Billingsley of Carthage, Miss.; three brothers, Cecil Jayroe of Forrest City, Johnny Jayroe and Billy Jayroe both of Palestine. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Clint Jayroe and wife, Kristin, Leslie Jayroe Davis and husband Clint, John Landen Chism, Mallory Chism and wife Lori, Jessica Chism Simmons and husband Logan, Rich Jayroe and Ryan Jayroe; three great grandchildren, Connor Jayroe, John Clayton Chism and Kathryn Chism. A sister, Eva Mae Jayroe and two brothers, James Russell Jayroe and Sammy Jayroe preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Forrest City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Palestine. Pearline Jones
Mrs. Pearline Jones, age 73, of Helena-West Helena and formerly of Haynes, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Helena Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Haynes, the daughter of Edmond Dexter Hollis and Goldie Mae Lawson Hollis. She lived in Haynes for most of her life and was a housewife.
Mrs. Jones married Clifford Arnold Jones in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1982. She is survived by a son, Rodney Jones of Erin, Tenn.; a daughter, Susan Jones Hobson of Helena-West Helena; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Latner Key and a grandson.
Visitation for Mrs. Jones will be held on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery.

Louise Ferguson Moore
Mrs. Louise Ferguson Moore age 99, of Forrest City died Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Forrest City Medical Center.
Mrs. Ferguson was born December 6, 1908 in Forrest City. She was the daughter of E. T. “Jack” Ferguson Sr. and Eva Marie Bernard Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church in Forrest City. She had operated the Forrest City Civic Center and worked at Ferguson’s Drug Store.
Mrs. Moore married W. P. Moore in 1925 and he preceded her in death in 1970. She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Moore Hill (Mrs. Charles W. Hill) of Widener; five grandchildren, Walter Hill, Woodson Hill, David Hill, Kathi Martin and Bill Spencer; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and nine nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Steward in 2002 and five brothers, E. T. “Jack” Ferguson Jr., Charles Ferguson, Ed Ferguson, Eugene Ferguson and Leon Ferguson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Moore will be Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday August 27, 2008, at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church. Frances Ruth Newsom Winter
Mrs. Frances Ruth Newsom Winter, age 92, of Wynne, Arkansas died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Forrest City Medical Center.
Mrs. Winter was born April 1, 1916 in Paragould. She was the daughter of Otho Newsom and Stella Leroy Newsom and attended school in Paragould, graduating from Paragould High School in 1932. She lived in Paragould, Jonesboro, Marion, Augusta, Pocahontas, Newport, Batesville, Carruthersville, Missouri, and in Fort Smith for 58 years. She moved to Wynne in 2005 to be closer to family in Forrest City.
Mrs. Winter worked as a bookkeeper for many years and after pursuing her education by enrolling in evening classes at Fort Smith Junior College and Arkansas Tech at Russellville. She had a successful second career as a teacher in Special Ed at the junior high level. After retirement from teaching, she enjoyed a third career as a volunteer secretary, newsletter editor, and historian at Goddard Memorial United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. At last count, she had volunteered over 33,000 hours at Goddard.
Her son, Fred Winter of Forrest City; a granddaughter, Suzanne Winter of Forrest City, and one nephew, Bill Newsom of Russellville, survive Mrs. Winter. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Sloan Winter Jr. and a brother Eldon Newsom.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Linwood Cemetery in Paragould at 2 p.m.
