Personal effects

Palestine-Wheatley boys basketball coach and assistant football coach Josh Fulcher holds an autographed  baseball and photo of P-W baseball coach Curtis Sims after being given the two items as gag gifts by Sims at Wednesday night’s athletic banquet. Fulcher announced last month he will be leaving P-W at the end of the school year to relocate his family to the Mountain Home area.

Playing and learning

Fastest girl in the state

Forrest City sophomore sprinter Nikirah McKinney is interviewed by KATV-Channel 7 Wednesday at Sam Smith Stadium. Playful pup

Sometimes all a man’s best friend needs is a soccer ball for entertainment. This young dog was seen enjoying a fun-filled romp with a soccer ball along Rosser Street. Ready for visitors

Mississippi River State Park in Marianna welcomed members of the Arkansas State Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission to the new multi-million dollar Visitor Center Wednesday for the first of two days of meetings at the new facility. Highlights

Forrest City High School held Class Night festivities for the Class of 2013 Thursday, with students receiving over $2 million in scholarships and honors. In the photo above, several seniors offer highlights from the 2012-13 school year as part of the program. The program also included performances by the FCHS Jazz Band, Mustang Choir and Der Singkreis, an invocation by salutatorian Eboné Allen and welcome from class valedictorian Ardraya McCoy. Making the cut

Forrest City Mustang senior running back Davieon Parchman (30) finds some running room during Tuesday’s spring practice as head coach Rich Trail looks on.
