Plenty to enjoy: Saturday was a perfect day for the 11th annual Ride the Ridge Poker Run. The event offered the poker run, which winds 100 miles along Crowley’s Ridge, live entertainment and food. One of the biggest draws each year is the crawfish boil. Organizers said 1,500 pounds of crawfish were boiled for the event. The Omega Chapter of Delta Beta Sigma held its Omega 5K Race on Saturday. The event started and finished at the First United Methodist Church. The event benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the sorority’s national charity. Several employees at the St. Francis County Courthouse today participated in National Blue and Green Day. The employees wore blue and green to show support for organ donation. Ginadell Adams, left, who organized the local event, said she did so to honor local organ recipients including her sister, Allison Fogg, a two-time heart transplant recipient, and Brittney Tracy, also a heart transplant recipient. The Palestine-Wheatley School District hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for its new elementary campus Thursday night in Palestine. Traffic traveling on North Washington Street near the Highway 1 Bypass was slowed on Wednesday after a pickup hauling a trailer loaded with large pieces of wood jackknifed and ended up in a ditch.
