Careful: A Forrest City firefighter uses caution as he tries to deal with a sparking electric meter at a home at 814 Sherwood Monday afternoon. The electricity had not been disconnected yet, and the fire department was attempting to extinguish a blaze, which was thought to have been caused by a short circuit. FCA Camp: Forrest City will host its annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) basketball camp Monday, June 18 through Thursday, June 21, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon each day at Mustang Arena. The camp is for youths in grades fifth through eighth and the camp fee is $20 per camper, which includes a camp T-shirt and FCA Bible. Camp registration will be held Monday, June 18, from 8 until 9 a.m. The camp will be staffed by FCA athletes from Arkansas and surrounding states. The FCA instructors during the Forrest City camp are, from left: Johnny Harris, Harding; Lonnell Fort, ASU; Andrew Lynch, Fayetteville; Stefanie Taylor, Baxter Springs, Kansas; Gregg Mitchell, Michelle Eubanks from Manila, and Sam and Amanda Farris, from Rose Bud. Not pictured is Randi Wilson, from Batesville. The team will work six different FCA camps over the next six weeks.

Basketball camp: Forrest City basketball coaches Chris McManners and Monty Thornton completed their three-day Lady Mustang team camp today. The camp drew 26 campers, from fourth through ninth grades. Four Fellowship of Christian Athletes summer interns, Michelle Eubanks, Stefanie Taylor, Amanda Farris and Randi Wilson, assisted with the camp. The four will return to Forrest City on Monday to help with the weeklong FCA Camp, which runs June 18-21 at Mustang Arena. Photo by Fred Conley.
