Charged in murders: Lee County Sheriff Jack Oxner, left, and Deputy Odell Smith escort Gordon Randall Gwathney, 46, from the private airplane that transported him from Laredo, Texas, to Marianna on Friday. Police officers flew to Laredo to retrieve Gwathney, who had fled there following a triple homicide early Tuesday in Lee County. Accident at intersection: Pictured is one of the cars involved in an accident at the intersection of Washington and Broadway Thursday just before noon. According to statements from both drivers and a witness, a car driven by Ernestine Weaver, 68, of 2116 Peevey was sitting a a red light, and when the light turned green, pulled out into the intersection where she was struck by the car above, which was driven by Lois Lawana Scott, 30, of 134 Gregory in Forrest City. Scott stated that she had looked down, and when she looked up, the light had turned red. Weaver was taken to Forrest City Medical Center and later released. Photo by David Nichol.
