Raising Relay funds

Cedric Williams’ State Farm Insurance office hosted a Relay for Life fundraiser today, serving hot dogs, nachos, drinks, candy and cookies. Razorback Rally

Arkansas Razorback football coach Bret Bielema was the featured speaker for the East Central Arkansas Razorback Club Rally and Banquet held Tuesday at the Forrest City Civic Center. The event drew more than 400 people. Bielema, who led Wisconsin to three straight bowl games, was named Arkansas’ 32nd head football coach in December.

University of Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema, left, was the featured speaker Tuesday at the East Central Arkansas Razorback Club Rally and Banquet held at the Forrest City Civic Center. The event drew more than 400 Razorback fans who were treated to a barbecue dinner, a silent and live auction, and Bielema, who talked about coming to Arkansas from Wisconsin as well as the current state of the Arkansas football program. Bielema also signed autographs and had his photo taken with Razorbacks fans who were anxious to meet the new coach. Ready for visitors

The St. Francis County Master Gardeners will host a Master Gardener Tour on Saturday for a group of Pulaski County Master Gardeners. The group will be touring each of the local Master Gardener projects, including the SFC Museum, Forrest City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Forrest City Public Library. Another site is the Caldwell City Park, where the organization maintains many flower beds. Routine check

The Forrest City Fire Department is checking fire hydrants across the city to identify which plugs are in working order and the flow rate of each. According to FCFD Chief Johnny Ruffin, the department uses the information to determine which hydrants need repairs and how much water firemen will have access to at a scene.
