Colt celebrating ZIP code day Saturday with party at city park

Area residents are invited to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime occasion on Saturday, July 25, as the Town of Colt marks Zip Code Day at Colt City Park. The unique event is inspired by the town's ZIP code, 72326, which aligns with the calendar date on Thursday, July 23, 2026. Colt Mayor Tyler Mullins said the rare calendar coincidence provided the perfect opportunity to bring residents together for a day centered on community pride, family fun and small-town fellowship. "Colt ZIP Code Day was created as a way to celebrate what makes our community special," Mullins said. "Every town has a ZIP code, but ours represents so much more than five numbers; it represents our neighbors, our families, our history and the pride we have in calling Colt home. "This year makes the celebration even more meaningful because our ZIP code, 72326, aligns with the calendar. It's a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our community, and we wanted to turn that memorable moment into a celebration that everyone could enjoy together,” said Mullins. Mullins said the event reflects the close-knit nature of the town and the relationships that define life in Colt. "When I think about Colt, I don't just think about the town itself; I think about the people," she said. "I think about sitting on the porch at Greg and Jim's for hours, just talking and catching up. I think about stopping by the Exxon to grab something quick and ending up talking with your neighbor for 20 minutes before you ever make it back to your vehicle. That's Colt. "It's a place where people know each other, look out for one another and genuinely enjoy spending time together,” continued Mullins. “To me, Colt ZIP Code Day is simply an extension of that. It's our community doing what we've always done – come together." The event will feature a variety of free activities for families at Colt City Park, including a hot air balloon, a mechanical bull, foam party, water slide, face painting, petting zoo and live music. Mullins shared that food trucks from communities across Arkansas will also be available throughout the celebration. "One of the things we're most excited about is welcoming Bluff City Balloons to Colt," Mullins said. "For many of our residents, especially our children, this may be the first opportunity they've ever had to see a hot air balloon up close. It's a unique experience that you don't often find in a small town, and we're excited to bring that to our community. "Even more importantly, we wanted to make sure families could actually enjoy everything the event has to offer. Every attraction is completely free. The only thing anyone will need to bring their wallet for is the incredible selection of food trucks we’re expecting.” Musical entertainment will begin at 2 p.m., with New Revelation Worship, featuring contemporary worship music. Forrest City native Eli Adams will take the stage at 4 p.m., followed by Rodell McCord at 6 p.m. Mullins said proceeds from the community's annual Run to the Park 5K help make the event possible by funding improvements to parks and recreation while supporting free community events. "People often ask how we're able to provide so much at no cost, and the answer is our community," Mullins said. "Each year, we host the Run to the Park 5K, and the proceeds from that event are reinvested right back into Colt. "Those funds help us improve our parks and recreation facilities and make community events like ZIP Code Day possible. It's something we're very proud of because the community is investing in itself, and everyone gets to enjoy the benefits." Mullins said she hopes visitors leave with a greater appreciation for the people who make Colt special. "Whether you've lived in Colt your whole life, moved here recently or you're coming to visit for the day, we want you to experience the kind of community we're proud to call home," Mullins said. "We hope you'll enjoy the music, the food, the activities and all the fun we've planned, but more than anything, we hope you'll experience the people. That's what makes Colt special. "This celebration isn't just about a unique date on the calendar. It's about neighbors spending time together, children making memories they'll carry with them for years and reminding ourselves that community is still alive and well in small-town Arkansas,” Mullins continued. “That's what Colt ZIP Code Day represents to me." The celebration will take place from 2 to 9 p.m., at Colt City Park, located at 281 Old Military Road East.
