FNBEA announces promotions at annual shareholders meeting

Sutton and his wife, Beth Bratcher Sutton, have two children, a son who is in college and a daughter who is a junior in high school. At the recent shareholders meeting of the First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas, Nick Sutton was named as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the bank to succeed Brice Fletcher who will serve as Vice Chairman for the next three years. Thomas Gerrard was elected President and Chief Lending Officer, replacing the role Sutton has held for the past four years. “This management succession plan has been in place for some years,” explained former FNBEA Chairman and CEO Fletcher and insures a smooth transition in the Executive Management of the bank. Sutton, of Marion, began his banking career in Memphis in 2000. He joined FNBEA in 2013 as manager of the bank’s Marion branch and has worked in Forrest City the past four years. Gerrard, of Marianna, has worked in lending since 2005 and joined FNBEA in 2017. He is engaged to Emily Burns and has three sons, the oldest two are both in college with his youngest being a junior in high school. Both men are graduates of the University of Arkansas. “We want to continue growing the bank at a modest pace while providing a stable return to our shareholders,” said Sutton. “We are primarily family, locally and employee owned as it has been since our beginning. We’ve enjoyed good growth over the past five to six years and we want to keep up that pace.”Fletcher explained his new role with the bank. “I have moved to a reduced work schedule where I’m working half days during the week and will serve as Vice-Chairman of the bank and also serve on various committees,” said Fletcher, who’s been with the bank 44 years. After that, I will continue my role on the board of directors.” Other promotions were also approved during the annual shareholders meeting. “Those also receiving promotions were Margo McElroy, Vice President/Wire Transfers and Electronic Bank Payments; Lisa Lee, Vice President/Human Resources; Dena Cranor, Assistant Cashier/Manager of North Washington Street Branch; Carrie Like, Assistant Cashier, Head of New Accounts/C.D. Operations; Jared Mabe/Head of Collierville Branch Operations; Porsha Robinson, Assistant Cashier/Consumer Lender, and Pam Singleton, Assistant Cashier/Holly Grove Branch Manager. Having begun operations in Forrest City in 1886, the bank will this year celebrate its 140th year in business. FNBEA has 15 locations, with two of those being in Tennessee, and has total assets of $600 million.
