Due to the winter weather,
today’s food distribution at
the Delta Dream Food Pantry
has been rescheduled for next
week.
Pantry director Doris Wallace said that out of caution
for volunteers and those
receiving food, pantry officials
made the decision to delay
distribution.
“Because of this inclement
weather, we did not want our
volunteers to get out to try
and help nor did we want people who need the food driving
to the pantry,” said Wallace.
Distributions are normally
held on Wednesdays, but this
month’s distribution will be
Monday, Feb. 24.
“We just didn’t want to
chance it this week because of
the weather forecast being
snow and the possibility of
ice,” said Wallace. “We didn’t
want our volunteers exposed
to this cold weather so we
moved it back.”
The cold weather and
whatever precipitation falls is
expected to stick around for
several days.
The National Weather Service says highs during the
daytime will be in the 20s
with nighttime lows forecast
in the single digits.
