Residents are invited to take
charge of their health at the third
annual Forrest City Community
Health & Wellness Fair on
Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 6 p.m.,
at the Larry S. Bryant Multipurpose
and Wellness Center. The event is
free and open to the public.

Lynch said this year’s fair will
build on the success of previous
years by offering even more free
health services, educational
resources and family-friendly
activities.
“Last year we provided 239 free
health screenings that included
blood pressure, glucose,
cholesterol, HIV, prostate, weight
and more,” Lynch said. “This year
we’re expanding on that with
more than 30 agencies, healthcare
providers and community
organizations participating.”
Lynch said the goal of the
annual event is to increase access
to preventive healthcare and
health education for St. Francis
County residents who may not
otherwise have the opportunity to
receive routine screenings. Among the featured services
this year will be the lung cancer
screening van from the Winthrop
P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
Organizers are also working to
secure a mobile mammography
unit to provide breast cancer
screenings at the event.
According to Lynch, the Food
Bank of Northeast Arkansas will
be onsite with its Nourish Mobile
program through the Flourish
Center, distributing fresh produce
to attendees. The University of
Arkansas Cooperative Extension
Service will also present a healthy
cooking demonstration featuring
nutritious meal ideas.
In addition to health
screenings, the fair will offer
activities for all ages, including
line dancing, yoga and step
exercise demonstrations. The
Forrest City Fire Department will
also bring its smoke
demonstration house, giving
children a hands-on opportunity
to learn important fire safety
skills.
“This event is completely free,
it’s for the whole family, and you
don’t need an appointment,”
Lynch said. “Just walk in between
2 and 6 p.m., on Aug. 6.”

available.
