American Legion Post 5 in
Marianna will host a meeting
for veterans in District 7 on
Saturday, Jan. 18.
The meeting will begin at
10 a.m., at the post home
located at 38 E. Mississippi St.
Post 5 commander Jeannie
Hall said all military veterans
in District 7 are invited to
attend the meeting during
which officials from the state
will also be in attendance.
District 7 consists of Post 4
in Forrest City, Post 5 in
Marianna, Post 41 in Helena-West Helena, Post 66 in Wynne
and Post 206 in Cherry Valley.
District 7 Commander
Jimmy Varner, with Post 4 in
Forrest City, will conduct the
meeting along with Hall and
John Edwards with Post 41 of
Helena-West Helena.
“We will be discussing ways
to get our membership and
participation numbers up,”
said Hall.
According to Hall, Tony
Gordon, Arkansas American
Legion State Department
Commander and Dennis
Maher, Southeastern Arkansas
Vice Commander, will also be
in attendance.
Hall also noted that at least
one veterans services officer is
scheduled to attend the
meeting to help veterans who
may have questions regarding
benefits or programs.
“A service officer will be
able to help veterans with any
military questions, such as VA,
benefits or any of that
information they may need,”
said Hall.
