Flag Day

John Harbin hangs one of many flags Friday morning to celebrate Flag Day. On June, 14, 1777 the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution to commemorate the adoption of the U.S. flag. The U.S. Army also celebrates its birthday on this date due to Congress adopting “the American continental army” on June 14, 1775. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation that officially established June 14 as Flag Day; on August 3, 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.
