A program is planned for
each day this coming weekend
at Mississippi River State
Park, with higher temperatures in the forecast.
On Friday, the park will
host Birds of Bear Creek Lake
from 4 to 4:45 p.m., at the Bear
Creek Lake Swim Beach.
“From woodpeckers to
eagles, you have the chance to
see all kinds of birds at Bear
Creek Lake,” said MRSP Interpreter Tayler Markham. “Join
us to learn more about these
fascinating animals. You’ll
even have a chance to use the
park’s spotting scope to see the
birds up close.”
A program Saturday morning will focus on cooking with a
Dutch oven.
The Rise and Shine: Easy
Dutch Oven Demonstration
will begin at 10 a.m., at the fire
pit at the Storm Creek Campground.
“Join us for a morning of
flavorful exploration as we
showcase the art of crafting
delicious breakfast treats in
Arkansas’ official state cooking vessel, the cast iron
Dutch oven. We will cover the
basics of temperature control,” said Markham.
On Sunday, park visitors
will gather at the Bear Creek
Lake Day Use Area at 10
a.m., for a Nature Detectives
program.
This program will allow
visitors to join park interpreters as they observe, study
and explore the natural environments of Bear Creek
Lake.
“We will be nature detectives, using our senses to
investigate the plants, animals and habitats around
us,” said Markham.
