Pettus announces plans to run for FCity Mayor

Kendall Pettus, a lifelong Forrest City resident and public servant, today officially announces his intention to seek the office of mayor of Forrest City in the November 2026 election. Pettus said his decision to run for mayor comes after "several months of prayer and fasting, seeking the direction of our Lord Jesus Christ, and having hundreds of conversations all across this great city.” Pettus, who is running under the campaign banner PettusFORrestCity, emphasized his belief that the city can achieve its full potential. "I truly believe that together, we can achieve the goals of greatness for our city," he said. "I’m fully aware of the struggles, issues, needs, and sadly, the division our city suffers from. I’m also fully aware that we can overcome these obstacles by being open and honest with ourselves and working from the inside out." Pettus said his campaign is centered on a message of unity and positive change, urging residents to "deal with our own negative opinions and speak life and positivity." Pettus said he aims to restore the city to its prominence, declaring, "I love this city and I truly believe that it still can be the most desirable place to live in Eastern Arkansas." Highlighting his inclusive approach, Pettus made a clear distinction for his candidacy, saying, "I am not running against anyone. I am running for Forrest City." He is asking for prayers first and then for the support of the community, pledging, "I plan to go hand-in-hand and stand on the front line with each and every one of you. I am and will be available for you." Pettus is a 1988 graduate of Forrest City High School. Currently, he serves as the city’s code enforcement officer. He has also served the county as a sheriff’s deputy and deputy coroner. Pettus has also served in various capacities as a fireman with the Forrest City, Caldwell and Newcastle fire departments. He is chaplain for these departments as well as the Northeast District of the Arkansas State Firefighters Association. He and his wife, Amy, have been married over 30 years, and together they have three children and three grandchildren. He is a member of Oak Hill Church of God where he is a trustee, teaches a Sunday school class and facilitates an addiction outreach program. “I humbly ask for your vote and support. I appreciate the great people of Forrest City,” said Pettus.
