Tri-County Fair nominated for Byways award

The Tri-County Fair has been nominated for the Festival/Event of the Year award from the Arkansas Delta Byways.The fair is held in Marvell each year for residents in Lee, Monroe and Phillips counties. According to a press release, other finalists for the award include the Get Down- town Festival in Greene County and Trick or Treat at Village Creek State Park in Cross County. The awards will be presented on Friday, Jan. 31, during the 23rd annual Arkansas Delta Byways awards banquet to be held at the Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart. Arkansas Delta Byways, based on the Arkansas State University campus in Jonesboro, is a nonprofit organization recognized by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism as the official tourism promotion association for counties in the Delta. Each year, the organization recognizes those with outstanding tourism achieve- ments across its 15-county region, which in addition to Lee includes St. Francis, Arkansas, Chicot, Clay, Craig- head, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Drew, Greene, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips and Poinsett counties. The complete list of finalists for several awards presented by Arkansas Delta Byways was released this week. The other nominees and the categories in which they have been nominated include: Hospitality: City of Tyronza in Poinsett County Hildebrand, Molock and Bohanan in Arkansas County Sugar Creek Country Club in Clay County. Entrepreneur: Callapalooza and RNT Duck Calls in Arkansas County, The Cotton Blossom in Desha County and Helena’s Trio of BBQ Excellence in Phillips County. Tourism: Support/Promotion Award: Jonesboro A&P Commission in Craighead County Lakewood Trail System in Drew County Rotary Club of Stuttgart in Arkansas County. Book Strap Award: Chicot Coffee and Cafe in Chicot County McGehee Pocket Park in Desha County Walter Morris Jr. In Phillips County. Cultural Heritage Award: Delta Cultural Center’s “Save King Biscuit” Escape Room in Phillips County Esperanza Bonanza Festival in Crittenden County Johnny Cash Statue Unveiling National Statuary Hall Steering Committee in Mississippi County.
